OIL TRANS B.V.

Sustainability

Supporting the transition to lower-carbon fuels.

Oil Trans is committed to practical measures that reduce emissions across its own operations and support its customers in meeting their environmental objectives.

Our view

A practical role in Europe's energy transition.

Liquid fuels will continue to power road transport, shipping, aviation and heavy industry for the foreseeable future. At the same time, Europe has committed to substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, and our customers face increasing expectations from regulators, financiers and their own clients.

Oil Trans regards its role in this transition as a practical one: to make lower-carbon fuels available on commercially viable terms, to transport all products as efficiently as possible, and to provide customers with reliable information on which to base their decisions.

The company is committed to steady, measurable progress, reported with transparency.

What we are doing

Four practical commitments.

01

Grow our renewable range

Renewable diesel forms a growing part of the Oil Trans portfolio. The company is developing long-term supply relationships with producers of HVO from waste and residue feedstocks and holds renewable stock alongside its conventional products.

02

Choose cleaner transport

Emissions performance is considered alongside safety and cost in the selection of barges and vessels. Where options exist, preference is given to more efficient tonnage, operators investing in cleaner propulsion, and terminals equipped with vapour recovery.

03

Help customers measure progress

Every renewable delivery is accompanied by the sustainability documentation customers require for their emissions reporting, and our team provides guidance on its interpretation.

04

Report transparently

Oil Trans makes environmental claims only where they are supported by verifiable evidence, and discloses uncertainty where it exists.

Renewable diesel

HVO: a lower-carbon fuel available today.

HVO is produced primarily from waste fats and residues and is suitable for most diesel engines without modification. Depending on the feedstock, it can substantially reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared with fossil diesel, as documented in the accompanying proof of sustainability.
About our HVO

Safety and environment

Prevention as the first priority.

The most immediate environmental risk in the oil supply chain is an uncontrolled release of product. Oil Trans mitigates this risk by working exclusively with terminals, barge operators and shipowners whose safety standards have been assessed, and by vetting every vessel prior to nomination.

All incidents and near misses involving the company's cargoes are reported, investigated and reviewed with the partners concerned, so that lessons are shared and recurrence is prevented.
