Frequently asked questions.
Buying from us
What is the smallest quantity you supply?
Minimum quantities depend on the product and mode of delivery. Barge deliveries generally start at approximately 1,000 tonnes and road collections at a single truckload. Regular smaller volumes can be accommodated through a scheduled programme of truck loadings.
How do you set your prices?
Most contracts are priced against the published daily assessment for the relevant product and location, plus or minus an agreed differential. Fixed-price arrangements are also available, with the basis of the price set out in the offer.
Can I obtain a quotation before entering into a contract?
Yes. Indicative prices and terms can be provided at an early stage. A firm offer is issued once onboarding is complete and the commercial details have been agreed.
Do you sell to private individuals?
No. Oil Trans supplies registered businesses only, following completion of our onboarding process.
Quality and delivery
How do I know the quality is right?
An independent inspection company measures and samples the product at every transfer of title and issues a certificate of analysis, which is provided to the customer. Sealed samples are retained for an agreed period.
What happens if a delivery is delayed?
Customers are informed promptly of any delay, together with the reason and a revised schedule. Where stock is held in storage, supply can often be maintained from the tank in the interim.
Which documents come with a delivery?
Deliveries are typically accompanied by the inspector's quantity and quality reports, transport documents, excise and customs documentation where applicable and, for renewable fuels, the proof of sustainability.
Payment and onboarding
What payment terms do you offer?
Documentary letter of credit, standby letter of credit, or open account subject to an approved credit line. All payments are made to the company's account at its own bank.
What do you need to open an account?
Company registration documents, details of directors and ultimate beneficial owners, bank details and a completed onboarding questionnaire. Oil Trans provides its own corporate documents in return.
How long does onboarding take?
Onboarding is typically completed within one to two weeks, depending on the completeness of documentation and whether a credit line is required.
Verifying an offer
Someone has offered me product in your name. Is it genuine?
Please verify any such offer with us before taking further action. Contact our office using the telephone number published on this website, or email our compliance team, and we will confirm whether the offer is genuine.
Do you ever ask for fees up front?
No. Oil Trans does not charge fees to secure product, does not issue documents before a contract is concluded and never requests payment to a private account. Any such request does not originate from Oil Trans.
Do you work through brokers or mandates?
Only with intermediaries formally appointed in writing, and any such appointment can be confirmed on request. No other party is authorised to represent Oil Trans.
